BRUNSWICK — From Monday through May 28, customers who visit McDonald’s restaurants in Bath, Wiscasset and Cook’s Corner in Brunswick will be able to donate $1 or more to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bath/Brunswick.

Donors can sign a “Start Something” pin-up to display on the wall at the restaurant.

“BBBS is a donor- and volunteer based organization, which spends an average $1,000 per year for every professionally supported 1-to-1 Big and Little match. We are asking our community for help with this week-long initiative,” Lindsay MacDonald, executive director of BBBS of Bath/Brunswick, said in a release. “This is an annual fundraiser supported by the franchise owners and restaurant staff. It has become an important component of our operating budget. We could not continue matching children with mentors if not for the support of local businesses and community members. We hope that folks will give as generously as they are able.”

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bath/Brunswick provides free community, school and site-based mentoring programs to an average 200 children, volunteers and families.

At present, the waiting list includes 40 children. Volunteers are encouraged to inquire about becoming a mentor.
