EDGECOMB — A fund raising supper will be held at the Edgecomb Community Church on Saturday, June 18 to benefit the Thon Met Refugee Resettlement Program in Southern Sudan. The program involves building a hut and managing the travel and moving in for each family. As refugee camps are dismantled there is an increasing need for permanent housing for refugee families.
Sponsored by the Mission Outreach Committee, the supper will be held in the wheel chair accessible church fellowship hall. The menu consists of homemade casseroles, salads, rolls, beverages and desserts. The supper will be served from 5– 6 p. m. The charge is $8 for adults and $3 for children under 12. The thrift shop will open at 4: 30 p. m. for browsers who come early.
The church is located on Cross Point Road in Edgecomb. For more information, visit edgecombchurch.org.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
