THE WIL RYDER Senior Citizens Bowling League recently held its 36th annual awards banquet. Honored were the “Frontiersman” who won the roll-off to take the championship. Team members were Wes Boynton, Teresa Breton, Maurice Castonguay and Bob Gilliam. In this photo from left, are league statistician Wayne Giguere, Breton, Boynton, Maurice Castonguay and Lisa Gilliam, standing in for her husband, Bob. Founded in 1976, the league aimed at providing a place for local seniors to gather, recreate, meet new friends and have fun. The long life of the league validates their success. Any local senior from age 50 and up is welcome. They have members from ages 52-92 who come from two-42 miles each week to enjoy the sessions. They have bowling averages from 68 to 198. but with 100 percent handicap, every one has a chance. President Jan Staples has issued an invite to all local seniors to come in and join the group. The league meets each Friday at Spare Time Lanes, Bath Road (just past Lowe’s) with members arriving from 11:30 a.m. for bowling which starts at noon. There are several openings available. “Stop in and check us out,” said Staples. “Then join in the fun and friendship.” For more information, call 729-8978 or 729-5370.
