“The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the sound of the turtle dove is heard in our land.” Song of Solomon 2:12
Observing Beauty
Someone once said that anyone who can see beauty never grows old. In the world of nature things are constantly growing, blooming, changing, and being born anew. Everywhere you look there is something going on. Many years ago my grandson and I watched a snail make its way across a wooden palette, and we wondered what it would do when confronted with a large gap. Would it give up? Would it fall through? But no, it simply stretched itself out as far as it could go, got a grip on the other side and laboriously pulled its shell to the other side. We cheered and applauded its success. The world is alive with life and beauty. The seashore, the lakes and streams, the hiking trails all beckon us. And there is often much to see right in our own backyards. God has given us this beautiful world to live in so let’s get out and enjoy it. The summer will pass by quickly so let’s take some time off from our televisions, computers, and cell phones; slow down and observe what is going on the world of nature. See the beauty of it all and remain forever young.
