WOOLWICH — Mainebased medical transcription firm NEMT has been named a finalist for the Employer of the Year award by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity, the national clinical documentation organization.
In addition, NEMT (New England Medical Transcription) has also been named a finalist for AHDI’s Innovation through Technology award, which recognizes a company for raising the bar when it comes to technology standards in the industry.
Out of hundreds of clinical documentation firms in the United States, only two are finalists for the Employer of the Year award and only three are finalists for the Innovation through Technology award, according to a news release.
“This is a prestigious honor for all of us and it is a tribute to every team member at NEMT,” said CEO and owner Linda Sullivan. “While our executive team deserves much of the credit, we also know that it is our managers and editors, our startup team and support staff and every one of our medical transcriptionists who help make this such a great place to work.”
“NEMT’s work force members all work from home, so we work hard to create a team atmosphere that encourages camaraderie and community,” said Linda Allard, president. “We send out contests with prizes, put out internal newsletters with pictures and stories from our team members, and encourage those who live near each other to participate together in charity walks and other events.”
The Innovation through Technology nomination is due in part to NEMT’s new externship program, which provides transcription students with early training and preferential hiring. The company’s IT Department, led by Andrew Clarke, played a key role in launching and administering the innovative externship program.
“We’re very proud of Andrew and his team,” said Sullivan. “We knew our technology staffers are the best in the industry and seeing our company named an award finalist confirms it.”
The winners of both awards will be announced in August at AHDI’s national convention in Indianapolis.
