I am excited to write a letter in support of Alice Elliott, running for Maine House of Representatives in District 55.
As summer progresses in Sagadahoc County, I am enchanted by the beauty and sanctity of our peaceful corner of the state. Day lillies are on display atop a hillside overlooking Merrymeeting Bay, crops are growing in the fields alongside the Kennebec, and downtowns are alive amidst the perennial summer business boost. I even rode my bike to our local farmer’s market the other day, where I was able to purchase some excellent local meat and produce at a very fair price. I love our beautiful corner of the state of Maine.
This time of year also means election season is looming, which means many of our delightful landscapes will once again be doted with those rectangular campaign signs reminding us of who is running for this and that, and on which referendum to vote yes or no. I am writing this letter to encourage readers to look beyond the road signs and the pamphlets and consider your voice in local and state government. Maine is a unique state made up of mostly small communities, and that means our voices are not only important, but they are listened to.
In my district 55, Alice Elliott is running for state legislature, and I know she is the kind of person who will listen to our voices and represent us in Augusta with sincerity and pride. I am lucky to know Alice and her husband, Dan. There is no doubt in my mind Alice’s passion for sustainability, affordable living, and bustling small businesses proves she is exactly who we need representing Richmond, Bowdoin and Bowdoinham residents.
Who will represent you in Augusta? Residents in Bowdoin, Bowdoinham and Richmond have Alice Elliott on their side. If you live in district 55, I hope you will help Alice get elected; if you live elsewhere, now is the time to find your candidate to support our schools, local businesses and farms, and our thriving local communities. It is time for Mainers to look to the future with confidence, and we need leaders like Alice Elliott who understand that.
