WOOLWICH — Kenneth F. McDonald, 87, formally of Bath and Woolwich passed away on July 26, 2012 at Mid Coast Hospital after being a resident at Dionne Commons for the past three years.

He was born in Bath on March 28, 1926, the son of Daniel Wallace MacDonald and Ethel Cushman. He attended school in Bath, graduating from Morse High School in 1946. On July 29, 1950 he married Marjorie L. Achorn.

He was a member of the Bath Area Senior Citizens. The Coasters, Saint Andrews Society, the Bath YMCA, Maine Wood Carvers and the Down East Soaring Club, plus other area model airplane clubs. His life-long interests were carving and building radio control airplane models, some with wing spans of over five feet.

He worked at his brother’s boat yard in the early years and then Bath Iron Works retiring in 1988 after 38 years of service. Employment at Bath Iron Works included working as a ship fitter and then the pipe shop with a stint as teacher in the apprenticeship program.

Survivors include three adopted children, Cynthia Brown of Edgecomb, Paul MacDonald of Oregon, and Marilyn Smith of Bath. He has 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 6 great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, parents and siblings: Norman MacDonald, Daniel MacDonald, Emma McCabe, Marie Main, Agnes Gavin and Wallace MacDonald, a grandson Kenneth Brown and a greatgranddaughter Ashley Mac- Donald.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 30th, 2012 from 11:00 – 1:00pm at the David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High Street, Bath. At 1:00pm a funeral service will take place at the funeral home. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Bath.
