ROCKLAND — Farnsworth Art Museum will present “A Conversation with Jamie Wyeth” at The Strand Theater, 345 Main St., on Aug. 14, at 5:30 p.m.
The program runs in conjunction with the exhibition “Jamie Wyeth, Rockwell Kent and Monhegan,” on display at the museum’s Wyeth Center through Dec. 30.
A news release describes the event as follows:
Wyeth will join Farnsworth Chief Curator Michael K. Komanecky for a conversation about the artist’s longstanding connections to Monhegan Island and to fellow artist Rockwell Kent. Wyeth first went to Monhegan with his father in the late 1950s, and has continued to paint there ever since. Early in his career he bought several pen and ink drawings by Rockwell Kent used as the sources for Kent’s illustrations to “Moby Dick.” Subsequently, Wyeth bought several of Kent’s paintings done on Monhegan Island around 1907.
The fee for this program is $10 for Farnsworth members and $15 for nonmembers.
