UNITY — Tickets for the 2012 Common Ground Country Fair are on sale at advance ticket outlets throughout the state.

Bath Natural Market in Bath, Gulf of Maine Books, Skillin’s Greenhouse, Morning Glory Natural Foods, all in Brunswick; and Lee Auto Malls of Topsham will sell advance tickets to the fair to be held Sept. 21, 22 and 23 at Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association’s Common Ground Education Center. Gates open at 9 a.m. each day. This will be the 36th fair.

Admission prices are the same in advance as at the gate: $10 for ages 13 to 64, $8 for ages 65 and over, and children younger than 12, MOFGA members, and those with physical disabilities, are free.

According to a news release, more than 60,000 visitors attend the Common Ground Country Fair. Many purchase their tickets at the gates when they arrive.

While the volunteer ticketsellers and takers make every effort to move the crowds swiftly through the entrances, the lines can be long. MOFGA encourages fairgoers to purchase tickets in advance. It will make the visit to the fair more pleasant. All fairgoers holding advance tickets may go directly to the front of the ticket lines.

Many of the participating advance sale outlets also are selling copies of the 2012 Common Ground Country Fair poster, which depicts garlic scapes, by Maine artist Lyndsey Marston.

Advance tickets and posters also are available from MOFGA’s online store.
