Graveside service for Mr. Edward H. Collett, 71, of Alexander City, will be Monday, September 12, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Ashland City Cemetery, Ashland, Alabama. Rev. Donald DeLee will officiate.

Mr. Collett passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Chapman’s Healthcare Center. He was born on June 25, 1945 in Hamden, Connecticut to Elmer Franklin Collett and Adelaide Collett. Mr. Collett was an electrician, but his passion was dealing with antiques and fixing items to sell at flea markets. He enjoyed mowing the 40 acres of grass when he had the time.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Collett of Alexander City; son, Wade Collett (Dannon); grandson, Evan Lee Collett; granddaughter, Emberly Joe Collett; brother in-law, James L. Hamlin; sister-in-laws, Judy Faye Smith (George) and Margarett Ray; nieces, Debbie Aardall and Sally Simmering; nephew, Brett Simmering (Mary Ann).

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Harriet Annette Simmering; and sister in-law, Gladys Stafford.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the cancer society of your choice.
