RENO, Nev. — MarShon Brooks scored 24 points to lead the Maine Red Claws to a 118-92 win over the Austin Toros in the NBA D-League Showcase at the Reno Events Center.
Maine (8-8) never lost the lead after Frank Gaines hit a 3-pointer for a 17-15 lead with 2:18 left in the first quarter.
The Red Claws scored the final five points of the quarter for a 22-15 lead.
Trailing 51-45 at halftime, the Toros cut it to four on a jumper by Nando de Colo to open the third quarter, but didn’t get closer the rest of the way.
Brooks led the way, scoring 18 in the second half.
Maine began the fourth quarter with an 83-71 lead, and pulled away by outscoring the Toros 11-4 in the first 4½ minutes.
Maine widened the margin to 108-83 on a tip-in by Chris Babb with 3:25 left.
The Red Claws had four other players with double-digit points.
Romero Osby had 21 points, Chris Wright finished with 19, followed by Gaines with 15 and Babb with 13.
Abdul Gaddy recorded 13 assists and Brooks led the Claws with eight rebounds.
Ronald Murray scored 29 points for the Toros.
