The American Red Cross is presenting a number of blood drives throughout the Mid-coast region during November.

The organization asks eligible donors to make an appointment to give blood to help ensure sufficient blood supplies are available for patients this holiday season. Eligible donors with all types are needed, especially those with O negative, A negative and B negative.

Upcoming blood donation drives include:

. Tuesday, Nov. 25 — from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Freeport High School, located at 30 Holbrook St. in Freeport

. Friday, Nov. 28 — from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at West Bath Fire Department, located at 192 State Road in Bath

. Saturday, Nov. 29 — from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Brunswick, located at 2 Columbus Dr. in Brunswick

All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at checkin. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
