DAMARISCOTTA — The 2012 Festival of Salt Bay Chamberfest, “Time Passing,” concludes tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Darrows Barn at Round Top.

A news release describes the final concert as follows:

The evening’s featured piece is the world premiere of young composer Roger Zare’s new work, “On the Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies, for flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano.” Zare was selected from a large field of promising young composers nationally to write for Salt Bay’s Sound Investment project.

A group of 25 families have each contributed to the cost of the commission, and Zare has made several visits to Maine in the spring and early summer to get to know the area, meet his commissioners and share the work-in-progress.

Tonight’s music also includes “Static” by Sebastian Currier and the Chausson Piano Quartet. World-class performers for the evening are Steven Copes, violin, Nokuthula Ngwenyama, viola, Edward Arron, cello, Romie de Guise-Langlois, clarinet, Conor Nelson, flute, and Pedja Muzijevic, piano.

Concert tickets are $30. Students are always admitted free.
