WINTHROP — The Lisbon High School boys soccer team rallied from a two-goal deficit to pick up its first win, a 3-2 Mountain Valley Conference overtime victory over Winthrop on Thursday.
The Greyhounds, 1-3-1 and slated to visit Carrabec on Saturday at 4 p.m., began their comeback on a Brady Fenderson goal early in the second half.
Lisbon’s Austin Fournier tied the game with 24 minutes remaining in regulation, and Kyle Whitman finished off a pass from Fenderson with 1:20 left in overtime to win it for the Greyhounds.
“We scored right after Winthrop scored its second goal, which really changed the momentum,” said Lisbon coach Dan Sylvester. “Up until that point, we were really sitting back. I think the guys are beginning to understand that we need to be consistent.”
Fenderson, Whitman and Fournier each picked up an assist, while goaltenders Andrew Gamache and Nate Bergeron shared the duties and combined on seven saves.

At Wales, the Wolverines spotted the Raiders a two-goal lead in falling to 2-2-1 in MVC play.
Trevor Sampson and Logan Gardner (grandson of former Brunswick boys soccer coach Peter Gardner) scored for Oak Hill (1-3-1), while Logan Grover scored on a pass from Zach Ellison with three minutes remaining for Wiscasset’s lone goal.
In net, Wolverines netminder Nate Mills had five saves, while Oak Hill goalie Kyle Fields turned aside six shots.
Wiscasset, which hosts Telstar tonight at 7 p.m., held an 8-5 shots advantage.

“This was the best I have seen us play,” said Mt. Ararat coach Rick Renaud after his Eagles dispatched a feisty Red Eddies team in KVAC play at Topsham.
Scoreless in the second half despite dominating, Mt. Ararat’s (2-1-1 and slated to host Brewer on Saturday at 11:45 a.m.) Will Hirnak converted a pass from Nate Santeramo with 8:45 remaining for a 1-0 Eagles lead.
Santeramo finished things off with 40 seconds left with an unassisted goal.
Gabe Pelletier turned aside two shots, while EL (2-2) goaltender Llewellyn Jensen had 11 saves.
Mt. Ararat outshot the EL, 15-2.

Visiting Morse fell to 0-5 with a tough loss at Rockland in KVAC Class B action.
“It was a pretty physical game,” said Morse coach Andy Knox, whose Shipbuilders host Lincoln Academy on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
Lars Feuerlein scored 5:31 into the contest for the game’s lone goal.
In goal, Duane Tardif turned aside 11 shots in the loss, while Oceanside’s (2-3) Ben Caron had four stops.
Oceanside held a 13-5 shots advantage and a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

The host Patriots scored two goals in each half for a Western Maine Conference win under the lights at Gray.
Jack Martell, Jake Streak, Tyler St. Pierre and Josh Keene each picked up a goal for Gray-New Gloucester (3-1-1). Nick Rogers had nine saves in the win.
For Freeport (1-3-1 and slated to visit Waynflete on Saturday at 11 a.m.), goaltender Connor Dietrich had nine saves.
