BRUNSWICK — Curtis Friends, Sisters in Crime, and Maine Crime Writers are announce the second evening in the Mystery Authors Series with Maine mystery author Paul Doiron.

Doiron will discuss his latest Mike Bowditch novel in the Morrell Meeting Room at Curtis Memorial Library, 23 Pleasant St., on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m.

A news release from the library describes the author’s work as follows:

Doiron is the author of the Mike Bowditch series of crime novels, including “The Poacher’s Son,” which won the Barry Award and the Strand Critics Award for Best First Novel and was nominated for an Edgar Award, an Anthony Award, a Macavity Award, and a Thriller Award for Best First Novel, and the Maine Literary Award for Best Fiction of 2010.

Doiron’s second book in the Mike Bowditch series, “Trespasser,” won the Maine Literary Award for crime fiction and was an American Booksellers

Association Indie Bestseller. His third novel in the series, “Bad Little Falls,” was released in August to high praise, the news release states.

Doiron is the editor-in-chief of Down East: The Magazine of Maine, Down East Books, and DownEast.com. A native of Maine, he attended Yale University, where he graduated with a degree in English, and he holds an master’s of fine arts degree in creative writing from Emerson College. He is a former member of the Maine Arts Commission and a current member of the Maine Humanities Council. Doiron is also a Registered Maine Guide specializing in fly fishing and outdoor recreation and lives on a trout stream in coastal Maine.

The event is free and refreshments will be provided by Bohemian Coffee House. Gulf of Maine Books will have copies of Doiron’s books for sale.
