BRUNSWICK — John F. Simmons, 80, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 13, 2015.

He was born on July 22, 1934, the son of Alfred W. Simmons and Myrtle Knight Simmons.

He grew up in Brunswick and attended Brunswick schools.

He married the love of his life, Jackie Simmons, on Nov. 3, 1951, and shared 63 loving years of their life together.

John was a carpenter by trade. He was a hard worker and very proud of his accomplishments. In his spare time he always looked forward to visits with his grandchildren, nothing was more important to him than his family. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling, with his team, Simmons Builders. He will be sadly missed.

John is predeceased by his son John Simmons; brothers Alfred Simmons Jr. and Manford Simmons; as well as one sister, Florence Seig.

He is survived by his loving wife Jackie Simmons; a sister Marjorie Webb from VA; his daughter Pamela Elwell; daughter-in-law Jane Simmons; his dearly loved grandchildren, Tina Judd and husband David, Vicki Murray and husband Ernie, Brad Elwell, Matthew Simmons and his fiancée Teresa Hall; and his great-grandchildren with whom his heart was always with, Jonathan and Dustin Simmons, D.J., Alyssa, Miguel, Erika and Christopher Judd, Branden Murray and Gaige Elwell, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of John’s life will take place on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Kopper Kettle in Topsham.
