FREEPORT — The visiting North Yarmouth Academy Panthers scored four secondhalf goals en route to a 5-1 Western Maine Conference win over Freeport on Thursday.

The Falcons, 5-3 and scheduled to visit Poland on Saturday at 11 a.m., jumped out to a 1-0 lead on an Emily Sturtevant goal with 17:03 remaining in the first half.

NYA (7-1) tied the game with 2:42 to go in the opening 30 minutes on a Kayla Rose tally, and second-half goals by Rose, Jen Brown, Marina Poole and Juliana Tardif in the first 15 minutes allowed the Panthers to pull away.

Freeport netminder Tallie Martin turned aside 16 shots in the loss.

Mt. Ararat went to Oakland riding a five-game winning streak.

But, the host Eagles improved to 6-1 with a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory.

Scoreless in the opening seven minutes, Messalonskee scored two goals one minute apart as Kristy Bernatchez and Lynnae Luettich gave the hosts a 2-0 lead.

Kylee Knight, Brooke Quirion and Emily York found the back of the net to give Messalonskee a 5-0 halftime lead, and second-half goals by Bernatchez (two), Luettich, Natalie Hunt and York completed the scoring.

Mt. Ararat, 5-3 and slated to host Lawrence on Saturday at 10 a.m., was outshot 27-2, with Messalonskee holding a 16-2 edge in penalty corners.

Taylor Pare had 17 saves in goal for Mt. Ararat, while Messalonskee netminder Abby Roberts turned aside two shots.

Abby Moore scored for the host Shipbuilders, but Maranacook tied the game by halftime and scored the gamewinning goal in the second half for a KVAC win at Bath.

Jasmine Thibodeau had a solid game in goal for Morse, which is slated to visit Oceanside on Saturday at 10 a.m.
