BRUNSWICK
Brunswick police arrested a Portland man early Sunday after they allegedly came upon a fight on Maine Street.
Police say Christopher Cassidy, 26, of 55 Irving St., Portland, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct for fighting with another man. Officers initially noticed a person on the ground between two parked vehicles and then observed Cassidy fighting with a second man in the vicinity of Aki Japanese Cuisine, 94 Maine St.
Cassidy allegedly fled when police arrived but was apprehended a short distance away by Sgt. Paul Hansen.
Neither of the two men Cassidy allegedly assaulted wanted to file charges. Cassidy was also charged with refusing to submit to arrest or detention and unlawful drug possession.
In a separate incident, police are investigating vandalism at Aki Japanese Cuisine, reported at 11:20 p.m. Friday.
Sgt. Russ Wrede said an intoxicated male allegedly grabbed a sign from outside the restaurant and swung it, striking and breaking a window. Wrede said police have a “person of interest” as part of the ongoing investigation.
