Brunswick police arrested a Topsham woman Monday for allegedly operating under the influence after a minor crash in the Wal-Mart parking lot.
Jean Wolkens — who lost a bid for the Topsham Board of Selectmen on Jan. 15 and for a House District 60 seat in November 2012 — was arrested and charged with operating under the influence.
Police initially received a report of a crash at Wal-Mart at 1:25 p.m. and were told one of the operators had fallen over before getting back into the car, Brunswick police Sgt. Russ Wrede said.
Wolkens, 43, was backing up and struck another vehicle, Wrede said. The damage was very minor and considered “nonreportable.”
Wrede said Wolkens smelled of alcohol and was arrested at the scene.
It’s the second OUI charge lodged against Wolkens in two weeks.
Topsham police charged her Jan. 11 with operating under the influence after she crashed her vehicle Dec. 16 near her home on Meadow Road. Police said tests showed Wolkens’s blood-alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit.
