Town officials, who want a local representative considered when Gov. Paul LePage makes his next round of appointments to the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority’s Board of Trustees in March, are gathering names and resumés in preparation.
Two positions on the board expired in September. However, the governor has yet to announce whether John Moncure and Don Hudson would be reappointed or replaced.
Town and MRRA officials expect an announcement within the week. However, Adrienne Bennett, Gov. Paul LePage’s spokeswoman, told The Times Record on Friday that she didn’t have “a firm date” by which the announcement would be made, but that LePage “still needs to make that decision.”
Trustee Steve Weems’s term expires in March, and town councilors plan to compile and analyze a list of applicants during the next few weeks.
“We have some very qualified resumés,” Council Vice Chairwoman Margo Knight said. “I would suggest that … we continue to nominate people, keep their names on file and that we stay in much closer communication with the governor’s office. They have said that they would entertain nominations.”
Three more terms, currently held by John Shattuck, Sally DelGreco and Rita Armstrong, also expire in September.
