ALEXA EATON, left, a fifth-grader at Woodside Elementary School in Topsham, outlasted Connie Calderwood, a seventh-grader at Chop Point School in Woolwich, Feb. 5 to win the Sagadahoc County Spelling Bee. The Bee was hosted by the Atlantic Regional Credit Union in Topsham. This is the second year in a row that Eaton will represent Sagadahoc County in the Maine State Bee sponsored by Scripps, and the third year in a row that a student from Woodside Elementary School has attended the state final. The State Bee will be held at Hannaford Hall on the campus of the University of Southern Maine in Portland at 2 p.m. on March 30. Last year, Eaton finished tied for 10th place and was the youngest competitor at the State Bee.
