U.S. Sens Susan Collins, R-Maine, a senior member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, and Angus S. King, Jr., I-Maine, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, will visiting Bath Iron Works on Thursday, they said in a news release.
The visit will be Collins and King’s first event together in Maine. Both hold seats on important committees that oversee Maine’s military interests, and they said in their news release they intend to express their strong intention to work together to protect the jobs of thousands of Mainers.
Collins and King will join BIW President Jeffrey Geiger to tour the facility and speak to workers, then will hold a media availability at BIW’s administration building.
The senators also will visit Portsmouth Naval Shipyard that day.
