BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick Parks and Recreation Department’s Mid-Winter Classic knocked off its third day of action on Wednesday

Girls

The Woolwich Central School girls and Wells seventh graders advanced to the semis with quarterfinal wins.

Woolwich 43-41

Woolwich fought off a Wells eighth-grade rally. Woolwich led 12-7, 21-18 and 36-30 at the breaks before Wells outscored the Wildcats 11-7 down the stretch.

In the Woolwich effort, Madeline Suhr poured in 31 points and Brooke McElman, Korallei Fifield, Isabella Monbouquete and Gabrielle Morin were offensive contributors.

Woolwich was 11 of 13 at the line and Wells three of 10.

In the Wells effort, Natalie Thurber tossed in 13 points.

Wells 7th, 24-21

In the day’s other quarterfinal game, the Wells seventhgraders edged Mt. Ararat.

Mt. Ararat led 6-4 after one and 13-8 at the half, and the teams were tied at 15 heading into the final quarter when Wells hit on five of 11 free throws.

Hope Wolterbeck led Wells with eight points, Samantha Bogue had seven and Megan Schneider six.

At the line, Wells was six of 14 and Mt. Ararat five of nine.

Anna Manuel led the Eagles with 10 points, and Sam Gonyea and Nikky Bradstreet split eight down the middle.

Lewiston 49-20

In consolation action, Lewiston posted quarterly leads of 14-4, 26-12 and 39-14 in defeating St. John’s of Brunswick.

Morgan Eliasen led with 23 points, while Skylar Gaudette had eight and Kasey Talarico six. Lewiston attempted eight free throws and made five.

In the St. John’s offense, Catherine Reid popped in 12 points and Claire Reid had six. St. John’s was two of five at the line.

Brunswick 38-17

The Brunswick Junior High bested Durham Elementary in the day’s other consolation contest.

The Huskies trailed 10-9 after one, went up 19-14 at the half, and was ahead 25-16 after three.

Margaret Dickinson led with 10 points, while Aidan Sachs had nine, Brooke Barter eight and Ketty Stinson seven, while Kolby Levesque and Holy Black were offensive contributors.

Brunswick was two of four at the line and Durham three of 12.

Megan Cormier popped in six points for Durham, and Claudia Labbe, Tatum Erlanson, Johana Bogue Marlow and Taylor Dostie helped out offensively.

Boys

Brunswick 8th, Auburn, Medomak Valley 8th and Falmouth also advanced with quarterfinal wins.

Brunswick 8th 51-42

The Brunswick eighthgraders defeated Greely as Josh Dorr popped in 15 points, Caleb Cost 12, and Jazwel Burns and Jesse Devereaux five each.

The Huskies led 11-5, 14-12 and 32-25 at the breaks and hit on 13 of 23 free throws.

For Greely, Jordan Bagshaw had 13 points, Chase Steuer eight and Luke Miller six. Greely was 15 of 20 at the charity stripe.

Auburn 53-28

Auburn beat Winslow with leads of 17-10, 28-14 and 32-18.

Noah Moreshead led with 12 points, while Samatar Iman had 10 and Jarod Plourde seven. Auburn was three of six at the line and Winslow four of 10.

In the Winslow attack, Hunter Campbell and Levi Magee each has eight points.

Falmouth 50-31

Falmouth got 17 points from Isaak Friou and 13 each from Colin Coyne and Ben Simonds to dispatch Southern Maine Catholic.

Falmouth enjoyed leads of 12-9, 29-13 and 36-23. Falmouth was nine of 13 at the line and SMC six of 10.

Raffaele Salamone paced SMC with 18 points and Anthony Pirone had seven.

Medomak 8th 36-31

The Medomak Valley eighth-graders got past Mt. Blue as Taylor McLain scored nine points, Cale Gee six, and Laken Harrington and Cameron Martin five each.

Medomak led 11-9, 23-15 and 29-27 at the quarter breaks and was four of seven at the line.

Zach Mittelstadt led Mt. Blue with 21 points, and Caleb Hall and Cole Dorman split eight down the middle. Mt. Blue attempted 10 free throws and made four.
