BOSTON — Senior captains and Maine natives Jessica Wilson and Allison Hill broke team records in the 3,000-meter run and 60 hurdles, respectively, as the Bates College women’s track and field team placed sixth out of 35 point-scoring teams Saturday at the all divisions Open New Englands at the Reggie Lewis Center.
With 39 points, the No. 9 nationally ranked Bobcats edged Division I Holy Cross (38) for sixth place at the meet, and was second only to MIT (41.5) among Division III teams.
Brunswick native Hill finished the 60 hurdles finals in 8.67 seconds, 0.04 seconds off the record she established one week ago. The top-ranked hurdler nationally in Division III, Hill edged Central Connecticut State University’s Melissa Wolliston by 0.01 for second place in the event. She was one of two Division III hurdlers to make the finals field of eight athletes.
Hill also helped Bates rewrite the team 4×400 relay record broken earlier this season with a fourth-place time of 3:53.05. She led off the race for the Bobcats. The previous team record of 3:54.99 was set Feb. 10 on Boston University’s banked track.
Bates will compete this upcoming Saturday at the Tufts Last Chance Meet.
