Selectmen Tuesday unanimously approved changing its emergency dispatch services from Androscoggin County to the town of Lisbon — a move that has been several months in the making.

County 911 operators will continue to field initial emergency calls, then relay those calls to Lisbon. Updating the Durham Fire Department’s control station and antennae array will cost $2,850, and the changeover is effective on Jan. 1.

In other business, selectmen have begun brainstorming how the town’s treasurer and tax collector position will change when 25-year employee Pauline Paradis retires in April.

Until now, the position has been an elected job; after Paradis’s retirement, it will become an appointed post.

A hiring review board will be established to review candidates. Applications likely will be available in late January or early February, according to town administrator Janet Smith.

Board members also are considering changing the town office’s business hours, effective after the Town Meeting is concluded April 6.

Also:

— $1,350 was donated to the town’s home heating assistance program, raised by the Durham Congregational Church during its walk-athon in October.

— Yankee Yardworks received the 2013 and 2014 town mowing contracts, worth a two-year total of $15,000; as well as the plowing and shoveling contract for the upcoming winter, worth $3,500.
