BANGOR
The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches on Friday announced the recipients of the 2017 Mr. and Miss Maine Basketball Awards at the Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games awards banquet at the Anah Shrine Hall in Bangor.
Emily Esposito of Gorham High School was crowned Miss Maine Basketball. Mr. Basketball honors went to Matt McDevitt of Greely High School.
“This is the highest individual award presented to a male and female high school basketball player in the state,” said Peter Murray, president of the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches.
“It is awarded for commitment, dedication and excellence throughout a player’s high school career.”
Other finalists for the honor of Miss Basketball were Sophie Holmes of Messalonskee High School and Katie Butler of Bangor High School. Jacob Hickey of Winthrop High School and Colin Coyne of Falmouth High School were the other finalists for the title of Mr. Basketball.
