RICHMOND HIGH SCHOOL’S Destination Imagination team placed first in its division Saturday, April 6, at a University of Maine state competition. Challenged to build a 6-ounce structure that could hold as much weight as possible while withstanding a torque force, the seven freshmen developed a “Twist-o-Rama,” which held 1,375 pounds. Most team members have been participating in Destination Imagination since fifth grade, when they went to Knoxville, Tenn., to participate in the Destination Imagination Global Finals, and the team has never placed lower than third place in the state in the last five years, advisers say. From left, the students are Caleb McArthur, Nick Anan, Kyla Johanson, Keely Dershem, Taylor Houdlette, Julie Plummer and Nicole Knight.
