DURHAM — John J. McKay Sr., 83, of Durham passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Howland on May 3, 1929, son of the late William H. and Louise Smart McKay. He was married in Lisbon Falls in 1953 to Alice Fowler who predeceased him.

John was proud to be a farmer and also worked at Miller Industries. He loved farming and his family meant more to him that anything. He enjoyed keeping track of his old relationships from the 1930s and ’40s in his home town of Howland.

He is survived by five children, William McKay of Lisbon Falls, Joyce Eaton and her husband, Lowell of Elliott, John McKay Jr. of Lisbon,

Joan Clark of Lewiston and Charles McKay of Durham; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Myra Yenco.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date at Hillside Cemetery, Lisbon Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, ME 04240.
