BRUNSWICK — Special Masses and services will be held at Catholic cemeteries — including one in Brunswick — throughout Memorial Day weekend.
An annual Memorial Day Prayer Service is scheduled for Monday, May 27, at 11 a.m., weather permitting, at St. John’s Cemetery on Pine Street.
Parishioners and community members will gather to observe Memorial Day and the tradition of honoring servicemen and servicewomen who have died defending our nation and its values. The service will be held near the flag pole at the center of the cemetery.
All are welcome to attend and pause, remember and reflect upon those who have died.
The Rev. Lionel Chouinard, pastor of Holy Trinity Parish in Lisbon Falls, will lead a service at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 217 Switzerland Road, Lewiston.
This Memorial Day Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m. at the Mausoleum Chapel. The Mass is open to the public and all are invited to attend.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
