FREEPORT — An informational session will be held tonight in the Freeport High School cafeteria for parents of Regional School Unit 5 students who will be issued new laptop computers next year.
The Maine Learning Technology Initiative, which provides the computers, is changing to allow various districts to choose which brand of laptop they want from a series of proposals.
In the past, only one kind of computer has been available to schools statewide.
The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Members of the RSU’s technology committee will be available to answer questions.
For more information, contact Technology Director Seth Thompson at 865-4706, ext. 112.
Information about the proposals available to RSU 5 can be found at www.maine.gov/ mlti/rfp and at www.maine.gov/mlti/deployment.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
