BELFAST — Katie Henrikson drilled five 3-pointers and scored a team-high 17 points as the Morse High School girls basketball team ended a threegame losing skid with a 57-38 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B win against Belfast on Wednesday.

“We are starting to find our stroke,” said Morse coach Mike Hart, whose team improved to 2-3 and visits Waterville at 1 p.m. on Friday. “We scored 69 points (in an 83-69 loss to Leavitt) in our last game and 57 last night. Katie hit some big shots for us, and Tori (Field) had two 3-pointers as well.”

Field finished with 16 points and nine steals, while Kerry Cummings chipped in 11 points and Lauren Crosby six. Brianna Bigelow came off the bench to pull down a team-high nine rebounds. The Shipbuilders finished six of 11 from the charity stripe.

Belfast, which trailed 15-7, 38- 22 and 46-30 at the quarter breaks, dropped to 1-4. The Lions were paced by 19 points from Lexi Lellidan. Belfast was three of 17 from the line.

In a back-and-forth Mountain Valley Conference contest at Wiscasset, the Rebels came away with a four-point win behind 20 points from Dan Whitney.

Telstar (2-3) jumped out to an 18-14 lead after a quarter, led 30-25 at the half and 42-36 after 24 minutes. The Rebels were 13 of 20 from the line, and Cory Howard added 14 points.

Devin Grover paced Wiscasset with 12 points and five steals, with Jason Weatherbee adding nine points and five rebounds, Jordan Jones nine points and five assists, and Caleb Bryant with five caroms.

The Wolverines were eight of 14 from the foul line.
