SOUTH PARIS — The Mt. Ararat Middle School eighth-grade softball team opened its season Tuesday at Oxford Hills and fell in a high-scoring affair, 15-10.
Jazzy Huntsman led the team with two singles, a double and two runs scored. Morgan Ruff and Megan Reed had two singles each, Sydney Stewart and Lillie Singleton each chipped in singles. Singleton also plated two runs for the Eagles.
Gabby West pitched four innings and held the Vikings to eight runs. Huntsman and Megan Reed closed out the game. Catchers Emily Bontatibus and Kaylee Bergeron played well behind the plate.
Ruff, Singleton, Huntsman and Jayden Austin also made solid plays in the field.
