Bedtime story program
Elementary education majors at Saint Joseph’s College are offering a bedtime story program for area children in kindergarten through grade 3. The first in a series of bedtime story programs is from 6 to 7:30 tonight in the Harold Alfond Center on the college’s campus. Tonight’s reading will feature a Thanksgiving theme, and next month’s story time, at 6 p.m. Dec. 8, will feature a holiday theme. For more information, call 893-7723.
CPR and First Aid class
Saint Joseph’s College is hosting an Adult-Child-Infant CPR and First Aid class from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Harold Alfond Center.
The Red Cross-certified course trains participants to respond to emergencies in their communities, workplaces and homes. The course is $60, or $40 for recertification. Children’s book sale
The Chinese and American Friendship Association of Maine Chinese School is hosting a multicultural book fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Breakwater School, 856 Brighton Ave.
The sale offers a large selection of children’s books. This year’s fair features Maine author Charlotte Agell, who will sign copies of her new chapter book, “The Accidental Adventures of India McAllister.”
Red Claws aid equine rescue
The Maine Red Claws is hosting a fundraising event on opening night, at 7 p.m. Friday at the Portland Expo. Money raised will benefit the Open Gates Equine Rescue Inc., 407 Morse Road, New Gloucester.

The Cancer Community Center is hosting a Chakra Healing workshop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The workshop, led by Jessica Healey, will teach the basic principles of the human energy field and chakra system.
