PORTLAND — Cameron Moore, site coordinator for Family Focus’ Hawthorne Before and After School Program, and Susan Baker, school-age site coordinator for Family Focus’ Before and After School Program at Harpswell Community School, have been awarded the Youth Development Credential I by Maine Roads to Quality: Early Care and Education Professional Development Network at the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine.
The youth development credential recognizes Moore’s and Baker’s experience, training, and education in the area of youth development. They will be required to document ongoing annual training in youth development every three years to maintain their credentials.
As participants of Maine Roads to Quality’s pilot of the Youth Development Credential, Moore and Baker are the first school-age professionals to have been awarded Youth Development Credential in the state.
Moore, of Topsham, has been working with school-age children and youth for more than 15 years.
Baker, of Brunswick, has been working with children for nearly 15 years, and has worked with Family Focus since 2003. She also led the Harpswell Community School’s afterschool program through national accreditation from the National Afterschool Association in 2009.
