ORR’S ISLAND (AP) — A summer-long fundraiser on Orr’s Island will support programs at the Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine.
The event kicked off Saturday with an open house and live music at Captain Morrill’s, a community arts center on the island. A silent auction includes artwork, gift certificates and products from many Maine businesses. The silent auction concludes with a benefit concert on Sept. 5.
The Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine is based at the Michael Klahr Center at the University of Maine at Augusta.
It presents a wide variety of films, discussions, exhibits and special events that reflect its mission of using the Holocaust to fight “prejudice and discrimination in Maine and beyond.”
