The Topsham Lower Village Development Committee wants to form a neighborhood revitalization plan in the area of Green and Elm streets.
The group is asking the public to come to its meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the municipal building, 100 Main St., to discuss the proposal.
According to an announcement about the public workshop, the Elm and Green streets area is a “key, historic component of our downtown” not included in the town’s Main Street plan.
The gap in community planning came as a result of recent studies conducted in connection with redevelopment of the Lower Village, as well as ongoing work on potential tax increment financing districts downtown.
“Creating this plan now would be particularly timely as an interim step toward our next comprehensive plan update which is due to begin within the next few years.”
The plan would also help the town formulate economic development plans for the proposed Downtown and Affordable Housing TIFs, “and provide guidance for the expenditure of funds generated by those TIFs.”
