BOOTHBAY HARBOR — On Friday and Sunday, Aug. 16 and 18, the Lincoln Festival Chorus will perform a program of Russian and Eastern European sacred, secular and folk songs at Boothbay Harbor Congregational Church, Route 27, at 7:30 p.m.

The concerts are conducted by Anthony Antolini and accompanied by Sean Fleming.

Featured songs by the Lincoln Festival Chorus range from Greek folksongs that have never been published, to Czech composer Antonin Dvorák’s secular paean to nature, to sacred works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Igor Stravinsky.

Stravinsky is usually not associated with church music, particularly invocations of ancient Russian styles, yet he had a deep interest in the musical traditions of his homeland and wrote pieces that were more closely rooted in pre-Western European styles than most of his immediate predecessors. His setting of the Lord’s Prayer, written in 1926, is a good example.

Tickets are $15, and students are free. Proceeds from ticket sales support the nonprofit
