GEORGE POPHAM DAY, beginning at dusk. In celebration of the founding of Popham Colony, a parade of firetrucks and police cruisers will run through Popham village. Then, when the Popham Chapel bell rings, hundreds of people will light up road flares around the village, along the beach and in the portals of Fort Popham. Flares are sold prior to the event and sales benefit the Popham Beach Public Library.
