HARPSWELL — Chris Chapman and Elaine Cyr of Harpswell were married on July 27, 2013, after 34 years as domestic partners.

The ceremony and reception were held at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay. Magistrate Andrea Najarian officiated, and Elaine’s sisters Janice Cyr and Sandra Petteruti, both of Brunswick, were witnesses. Friends and relatives nationwide attended this joyful wedding and celebration.

Chapman and Cyr are both retired art educators; each of them teaching well over 30 years in area high schools. Both of them were named Maine Art Educator of the Year, and each earned master’s degrees in art from New Mexico State University. They became a teaching team for more than 10 years, teaching ceramics courses for USM summer sessions as well as at the Haystack Mt. School of Crafts Student Craft Institute.

They extend their gratitude to all who supported their partnership and long awaited marriage.
