A local man led authorities on a foot chase through a west Brunswick neighborhood Tuesday after police attempted to stop him for an alleged traffic violation.

Police charged River Road resident Adam R. Fickett, 31, with operating after suspension and refusing to submit to arrest.

The chase began after Officer Patrick Scott recognized Fickett as they drove past each other on Mill Street before 5 p.m. Tuesday, Brunswick Deputy Chief Marc Hagan said. Claiming Fickett’s driver’s license had been suspended, Scott pulled him over.

When Scott got out of his cruiser, Fickett drove away.

Police said Scott then pursued Fickett onto Pleasant Street, then Lombard Street, where Fickett abandoned his car.

After a foot chase through Summer Street back yards, Scott, Sgt. Russell Wrede and Officers Ed Yurek and Matthew Swan corralled Fickett on Stanwood Street. He was taken to Cumberland County Jail and is to appear in West Bath District Court Oct. 8.
