ORR’S ISLAND — Reginald F. Johnson Jr., “Reggie,” passed away peacefully on the morning of August 15, 2013, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Reggie was born on February 27, 1950, in Brunswick. He was the son of Reginald F. and Ethelyn M. (Richardson) Johnson Sr. of Orr’s Island.

Reggie lived most of his life on Orr’s Island. He attended island schools through eighth grade; graduated from Brunswick High School in 1968; and graduated from Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute as an auto mechanic. Reggie was employed by Shaw Brothers Construction of Gorham for a number of years. He was employed by the Maine Department of Transportation for 17 years as a truck driver and snow plow driver. Reggie enjoyed hunting, fishing, lobstering, and was an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Reggie is predeceased by his father, Reginald Johnson Sr. in 1995 and grandmother, Ruth M. Doughty in 1996.

He is survived by his mother, Ethelyn Johnson; brother and sister-in-law Walter M. Johnson and Sally Brooks of Orr’s Island; sister and brother in-law Marjorie L. and Carl Overlock of Wiscasset; niece Melissa Fait of Dresden; niece Brenda and her husband Jon Sawyer of Dresden; nephew Richard C. Overlock of Wiscasset; great nieces and nephews Cainin Griffin, Cable Fait, Cyra Fait, Margaret Sawyer, and Eben Sawyer.

Per Reggie’s wishes, there will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on September 22nd at the Bailey Island Cemetery, followed by a celebration of his life at the Orr’s Island Schoolhouse.
