Michael Thomas Smart, 66, died August 18, 2013, at Hospice House in Auburn, Maine, after a short illness with cancer. Michael received loving and outstanding care from all at Hospice House.
He was predeceased by his parents, Beulah and Oscar Smart of Brunswick, Maine, and his grandparents, Anna and Thomas Smart and Euphamie and Ludger Pelletier.
Michael was born April 8, 1947, in Brunswick, Maine. He got his love of cooking from his mother and his craftsmanship abilities from his father. He graduated with a degree in biology from the University of Maine in Orono in 1969. Michael worked in Prosthetics/Orthetics in Bangor, Maine, and Portland, Maine, and until his retirement for New England Brace Company in Manchester, New Hampshire, designing and making prosthetics and orthotic devices with leather work his specialty.
