BAILEY ISLAND — Bill Simonsen, beloved husband for forty-eight years to Beth, passed away peacefully at Mid Coast Hospital on August 20, 2018. His wife and son were at his side.
He leaves behind his children, Kirsten, Jeremy and his wife Julia, and Micah and his wife Kelly.
Bill fought in the Vietnam War and wrote a “splendid novel” based on his time in combat as Sergeant there. (According to Joe Galloway who co-authored We Were Soldiers Once… And Young).
Bill was buried in the Bailey Island Cemetery on August 21st. His treasured grandchildren Stella and Samuel were also there.
He was our hero and will be missed forever.
