BATH — An information session will take place 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. today at 9 Park St., as two University of Maine at Augusta faculty present “UMA Pathways to Early Childhood, K-3 and Secondary Education.”

Cindy Dean and Patricia Clark will outline the UMA distance-education options available to students looking to become certified teachers in one of these areas.

Dean earned an Ed.D and a M.Ed. in literacy education as well as an M.A. in English from the University of Maine. She is an assistant professor of education and coordinator of teacher certification who oversees all UMA education pathways.

Clark, who received her M.S. in exceptionality through the University of Southern Maine, came to the University of Maine at Augusta as a Libra professor in 2001.

At UMA, besides serving as Early Childhood Studies’ director, Clark teaches a wide range of courses, including early childhood, special education, human services and psychology. Most of her classes can be applied toward state certifications.

Several education courses are offered via interactive television, videoconference or online each semester, including summer.
