There is a race for Saco Mayor that should get our attention: Current Mayor Don Pilon is being challenged by former Mayor Ron Michaud. During these last two years, Don Pilon has led Saco through growth and prosperity. Michaud’s policies several years ago led to a fiscal disaster which resulted in an 18-percent tax increase.
Let me explain.
Michaud led us into a Regional School Unit costing local taxpayers millions of dollars that never benefited Saco students and before leaving City Hall he depleted the city’s rainy day emergency savings fund by spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on regular expenses. These two events led his successor into a perfect storm which led to financial turmoil. We have recovered but remember that expensive mismanagement.
Don Pilon has made some unpopular but necessary changes at City Hall. The work is still not done.
Please join me in re-electing Don Pilon Mayor of Saco on November 3 to keep Saco moving forward.
