From the Journal Tribune: “Police officers who had sported beards and mustaches this summer and fall to draw attention to an expired union contract can break out the shaving cream and razors. The council signed off on a new three-year contract with the Sanford Police Association Tuesday that gives employees an across-theboard raise for 2005 and percentage increases in 2006 and 2007.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “Saco’s City Council unanimously accepted City Solicitor Ronald Ayotte’s resolution concerning the Lucia Kimball Deering trust fund and rejected a proposal by Portland Atty. Robert Schwartz which sought to transfer the fund to the Saco Osteopathic Hospital for use in the establishment of an allopathic, general hospital in the city.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “An exceptionally fine likeness of the late Hon. Moses Lowell, mayor of Saco in 1869-70, was presented to the city of Saco this morning by Mrs. Walter J. Gilpatric and Frank H. Lowell, grandchildren of the former mayor. An unusual amount of interest attaches to this portrait from the fact that it was made by a Saco artist, the late Charles H. Granger.”
