
Hammonds, 27, was arrested Tuesday evening in Belgrade by members of the Sanford Police Department with the assistance of Kennebec County Sheriff ’s Office, according to a press release from the Sanford Police Department.
Hammonds allegedly robbed the convenience store around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. He was allegedly armed with a knife at the time of the robbery and fled the scene after taking an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the press release.
Hammonds was arrested without incident at the home of his mother and sister, according to police. Police learned that Hammonds was staying with his family in Belgrade and a search warrant was issued Tuesday for the home of Hammonds’ mother and sister, according to police. The search warrant was issued for evidence of the crime, said police.
Hammonds was transported to the Kennebec County Corrections Facility by sheriff ’s deputies. Bail was set at $2,000 cash.
