“Quack, Quack” can be seen and will be heard sometime this fall at The Odd Duck Restaurant, 11 Pleasant St., Brunswick.
Becky Marcos, one of the owners, says the name is based in some quirky family lore. Hmmm, very mysterious … but the format for the restaurant is not. Breakfast and lunch will be served from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner from 4-10 p.m.
Much of the food will be locally-sourced including oysters and other seafood, lamb and beef, and produce.
There will even be a specialty house cocktail call the “Ass Quack.” The recipe is being developed now but the name sounds most intriguing.
Chef Dirk Yeaton is creating a menu that will have recommended wine pairings. In addition to his culinary knowledge, he recently worked for the Jackson Family of Wines, makers of Kendall Jackson wines.
I am hopeful that wine tastings and dinners will be in The Odd Duck’s future. The menu will also feature innovative vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free items.
In addition to the restaurant there will be a piano bar and third-floor space for events and meetings.
This is an imaginative new use for a historic Brunswick building from the 1800s. More will come soon as construction nears completion. Welcome to Brunswick!
