OLD ORCHARD BEACH — The Old Orchard Beach boys basketball team defeated North Yarmouth Academy 60-26 Friday night.

Sophomore Ian Regan led the team with 12 points, while Evan Christensen tallied 11 and Zach Hirst scored 10.

 
 
North Yarmouth junior Jake Malcom led the team with 12 points and Haven Cutko scored 7.

The Seagulls dominated most of the game, but really pulled away in the second half, outscoring North Yarmouth 36-12.

Falmouth 75, Kennebunk 53

Falmouth jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter – thanks to 23 combined points from Thomas and Colin Coyne – and the host Kennebunk Rams could never recover.

Kennebunk was led by Zach MacKinnon, who finished the night with 20 points, including four three pointers.

The Rams also got 12 points from both Justin Wiggins and Cam Lovejoy.

Thomas Coyne led the visiting Yachtsmen with 29 points and his brother Colin finished with 21 in the win.

Girls Basketball

Old Orchard Beach 59, North Yarmouth 29

The Old Orchard Beach girls basketball team powered past North Yarmouth Academy 59-29 Friday night thanks to a big first half in which they outscore their opponent 31-16.

Brianna Plante led the Seagulls with 16 points, along with Peyton Feitz who scored 14 and Samantha Donnell with 12 from four 3-pointers..

Maggie Larson led North Yarmouth with 12 points on the night.

Thornton Academy 35, Bonny Eagle 31

Alex Hart scored 21 points to lead the Golden Trojans to an opening-night win over Bonny Eagle on Friday.

Ashley Howe added 11 points for TA, which also got double digit rebounds from Cassidy Cochrane.

Boys Hockey

Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse 5, Massabesic/Bonny Eagle/OOB

The Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse hockey team topped Massabesic/Bonny Eagle/ Old Orchard Beach 5-3 in a high-scoring affair.

Despite Jason Magro scoring the team’s lone goal in the first two periods, Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse exploded in the third with four goals coming from Austin Fournier, Tyler Halls and Noah Austin, who scored two.

Massabesic/Bonny Eagle/Old Orchard Beach got their three goals from Tyler Ouelette, Kyle McKay and Tanner McClure.

Yarmouth, Sanford split meet

The Sanford boys swimming team picked up a 109-61 victory over Yarmouth, while the Yarmouth girls beat Sanford 88- 79.

Yarmouth’s Elenor O’Gorman finished first in the Women 200 yard medley relay with a time of 31.09, with Sanford’s Pearl Frohloff finishing second at 35.17.

Sanford’s David Winchell III came in first for the men’s 200 yard medley relay with a time of 31.46. Yarmouth’s Ben Dow was in second place with a time of 34.56.

Yarmouth’s Calista Mclaughlin finished first in the freestyle competition with a time of 2:22.78, and Sanford’s Quinn Severs won the men’s freestyle with a time of 2:07.35.

Delaney Tanguay represented Sanford and won the women 200 yard IM with a time of 2:43.40.

Charlie Keefe of Yarmouth won the men’s IM at 2:35.23.

Yarmouth’s Eliza Lunt finished first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 26.94 while Sanford’s Mason Scully won at 24:55.

Calista Mclaughlin won the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:14.72, while Sanford’s Korey DeBoth won at 1:09.55.

Amanda Murray of Yarmouth took home first place in the 100 yard freestyle finishing at 1:03.49. Mason Scully won the same event with a time of 58.39.

Sanford’s Carson Cuthbert finished first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:54.06. Sanford’s Lily Denham finished first is the 200 yard freestyle at 1:56.80.

Sanford’s Quin Severs finished at the top of the 200 yard freestlye relay at 1:44.76, Eleanor O’Gorman finished first at 1:04.76.

Winchell III won the 100 yard backstroke at 1:08.86. Lunt won the same event at 1:13.90.

Sanford’s Matt Webber won the 100 yard backstroke competition with a time of 1:11.48.

Calista Mclaughlin won the 400 yard freestlye relay at 4:20.63.

Paul McNeil of Yarmouth finished first in the 400 yard freestyle relay at 4:06.30.
