PORTLAND — A Biddeford man was arrested in Portland Sunday after allegedly breaking into and burglarizing vehicles in the area of Cumberland and Deering avenues, police said this morning.
Lt. Tim Sweatt of the Portland Police Department said Stephen Desmond, 31, was arrested around 8:45 a.m. Sunday after a resident reported seeing suspicious activity in the area. Police responded to the area to find Desmond and two vehicles that appeared to have been broken into, said Sweatt.
Desmond was charged with motor vehicle burglary and taken to Cumberland County Jail in Portland. He is being held on $26,600 bail and is scheduled to appear in court today, a jail official said this morning.
